Ignite Learning Academy’s online high school curriculum serves students in grades 9 – 12. High school is an important time in a student’s life, and we play an important role by guiding them through these years. By developing and emphasizing students’ critical thinking, discipline and student mastery, students will grow mentally, emotionally and academically as they prepare for college/university.
Take a look into our high school curriculum.
During the high school years, the role of the parent/coach is significantly reduced when compared to elementary and middle school responsibilities. Students in high school are encouraged to advocate for themselves, contact teachers directly, and take ownership of their learning in order to abundantly prepare them for college and their future career.
Students will continue to engage in Math, Language Arts, History, and Science courses, but will be afforded the opportunity to enroll in more specialized learning pathways, elective courses, and foreign languages. High school students should plan to spend 3.5 - 5 hours completing their schoolwork each day.
High school students are invited to attend live classes throughout the week to extend their learning in the online curriculum and work alongside their teachers and peers as they conduct experiments, engage in academic conversation, work on projects, and expand their knowledge. Live classes are hosted in Zoom so students have a chance to get to know one another and build friendships with other students.
High school students are also invited to engage in a number of virtual clubs including science, drawing, Esports (gaming), cooking, painting, chess, and more.
Career Clusters are available in the following 14 areas and allow students to ‘try on’ a career before fully committing to that course of study in college. This allows students to explore both current and new interests and, in many cases, prepares students to complete industry-recognized certifications after the career pathway has been completed successfully.
